I need a last-minute car hauler. I rented a U-Haul trailer from Woodinville Washington. I write this in the back of my truck from the side of the road on I-5 in Oregon. right rear tire blew out on the fine re tal unit. I made it to the shoulder without killing myself or anybody else.

I immediately called roadside assistance at 2 in the morning to be informed that I'd have somebody here within 60 miniutes after 90 miniutes when I called back i was informed it was going to be a 90-minute wait.

As I was telling him that that was unacceptable I was just told 60 minutes the first representative was calling me on the other line so I hung up after 90 minutes of waiting to be told that the contractor was not going to take care of the repairs as he did not have a rim or a tire.

So unfortunately I was going to have to wait another 90 minutes for a second contractor to bring out a Rim and a tire.

Needless to say I'm furious I Drove All Night Long into the morning to avoid sitting in traffic in the midday Heat towing a race car to California to have this take over my entire trip as I'm sitting here feeling pissed I got a text from the contractor telling me it was now going to be a 3-hour wait what a joke customer service.

How ever i was offered a hotel at no cost to us.

I've been up driving four hours on it I've had enough coffee for 7 people what am I going to do with a freaking Hotel I still got 500 miles to go I'm just pissed

I want money back this was a $675 rental!!! Wtf Shrug Wtf

As a U-Haul representative, I can attest that U-Haul Roadside works their rear ends off trying to get the customer back on the road as quickly as possible. The only thing I would change is the thing about 60 minutes.

People think that means someone will teleport in and make everything wonderful in less than an hour. And that would be unrealistic. I have had AAA for years and have never had them completeley service me in under an hour. The average time was 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on the time of year, time of day, and type of problem.

Like AAA, we work with Vendors in the area. These people aren't sitting waiting for our calls. These are businesses that are servicing customers calls, whichever come in first. If they are out towing a car, and we contact them, they give us an ETA.

If they can't do it, we contact other vendors that work with us in the area to see if we can shorten that time frame. Trucks are moving vehicles that will break down, get flats, etc. Some truck companies charge a fee to have Roadside Assistance. We offer that free if there are mechanical issues.

I know sometimes it is very inconvenient for a customer to be inconvenienced. But it happens and when it is a mechanical issue (breakdown, flat) we will pay for your whole family to stay in hotel rooms, and give you money for food, and extend the time on the rental. If a vehicle breaks down and cannot be repaired, U-Haul will sometimes get a truck out to the broken truck and pay movers to repack the new truck, or if the truck can be towed if not far from its destination, we've even towed the whole truck and provided transportation for the customer to meet us at their new home with their belongings, or move them in our U-Boxes. It may seem like a lot of complaints, but considering we do well over 100,000 moves each year, most that go smoothly and without a hitch.

For the relatively small number of rentals that have breakdowns in route, we do our best to accommodate the customer and make the situation the best we can.

Once people are upset, it's often hard to calm them down. Moving is stressful, and it doesn't take much to cause a complete personal breakdown, so we understand and do our best to accommodate the customer.

This flat tire break down cost me about 10 more hours and trip put me in rush hour traffic in Oregon and California I lost $300 worth of Omaha Steaks the content of a refrigerator, i don't have a receipt for. so I can't claim it to your insurance.

My time spent, extra fuel, lost food packed in a cooler inaccessible were all factors in the while picture.

We sat and cooked in 90 plus degree tempatures in rush hour traffic and received a $50.00 discount on a $675.00 rental!!! REALLY
